History of The Mousam River Dams

The Mousam River is what helped create the towns we live in. It is part of our proud heritage. Those who want the dams destroyed are well organized, primarily outside interest groups, with solid financial backing from various commercial enterprises. They have a game plan which is simply to remove all dams in the State, sometimes to date with sad consequences. They show little caring for our towns and while their stated motivation of restoring rivers to their natural state sounds good, biologists tell us that what will be in the future cannot be predicted and is unlikely to look anything like what was there in the past.

The video below was for a draw down by KLPD and shows the exposed banks most of the way up the river to Twine Mill. If the Kesslen dam was removed, the amount of water along this route would be even less.

The video clearly shows the impact along the banks of the river and the obvious shallows in the center. The removal of the dams would create a much worse reality than this!
